North Cobb Drops 2 At Kennesaw Mountain

Last Updated: September 23, 2016 9:19 AM

North Cobb traveled to Kennesaw Mountain on Thursday in their final regular season region games of the season but defensive problems led to JV & Varsity losing both games.

In the varsity match-up, Kennesaw Mountain had the #1 seed on the line while North Cobb was looking to get the #3 seed in the region tournament in 2 weeks. After a quick 1-2-3 top half of the 1st, the Lady Mustangs struck first when an RBI double plated the first run of the game. North Cobb answered right back though as a 2-out bunt by
Angela Cecere
caused a throwing error by the pitcher scoring courtesy runner
Alexa Doherty
who was running for
Kathryn Bywaters
. Bywaters had singled, one of her 2 hits on the night, to lead off the inning. The tie was quickly broken though by Kennesaw Mountain with the help of 3 Lady Warrior errors in the bottom of the 2nd inning. The Lady Mustangs scored 4 times in the inning to jump out to a 5-1 lead after 2 innings. Kennesaw Mountain then extended the lead to 7-1 in the bottom of the 3rd with a 2-run homerun to left centerfield. Starting pitcher
Julie Sanderlin
settled things down though allowing just 1 hit over the next 10 batters to keep the score there. North Cobb started to climb back in the game with a lead-off homerun from
Jasmine Copeland
in the 4th inning. Then a triple from
Mikila Mullen
down the rightfield line scored
Iman Muhammed
who singled with 2-outs in the 5th inning. In the top of the 6th, the Lady Warriors forced the Lady Mustangs into 2 errors to load the bases with 0 outs and a chance to close the gap further. But the Lady Mustang pitcher was able to get 2 strikeouts and a ground out to end the rally with no runs scoring. In the bottom of the 6th, Kennesaw Mountain added a couple of insurance runs on 2 more Lady Warrior errors to make the score 9-3.
Samantha Simcox
came in in the 6th inning and got 3 quick outs to prevent any further damage. That was the final as North Cobb was unable to score in the 7th despite another error by the Lady Mustangs. Sanderlin gave up just 7 hits, 0 walks, & 1 hit batter over 5+ innings, striking out 3 and allowing just 3 earned runs.

In the early game, North Cobb's JV team was also undone by their defense as Kennesaw Mountain jumped ahead early 10-2 after 1 inning and never looked back in a 15-5 victory. In the 1st inning, a leadoff walk by
Kennedy Kirklin
and a single by Doherty started the 1st inning. Starting pitcher
Tessah McAllister
brought Kirklin home on a sacrifice fly to leftfield then Doherty scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0 Lady Warriors. But 5 North Cobb errors led to Kennesaw Mountain plating 10 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to put the Lady Mustangs comfortably ahead. North Cobb scored again in the 3rd inning on a double by McAllister and a sacrifice fly by
Kaylee Jordan
. The Lady Warriors then loaded the bases with 2 outs on hits by
Trinity Wilkinson
and
Camdyn Smith
and a walk by
Averi Childress
but the Lady Warriors were not able to push across any more runs. Kennesaw Mountain added 5 runs in the 3rd on 4 more North Cobb errors to make it 15-3. North Cobb came back with 2 runs on 5 walks in the 4th to make the final score 15-5.

North Cobb will be off for a few days for Fall Break. Cherokee HS visits North Cobb on Wednesday September 28th in a non-region game. North Cobb will then travel to St. Simons for Softball in the Sand on Friday & Saturday 9/30 & 10/1. This is the rescheduled tournament from earlier this month.

North Cobb Metro Blue Goes 1-1 This Week

Last Updated: September 23, 2016 9:13 AM

The North Cobb Metro Blue Lady Warriors split their two games this week, and are holding in 4th overall in the Cobb County Metro Fastpitch Silver division going into the Fall Break.

On Saturday at East Paulding, despite a big day at the dish from Abi Klinkert, who finished 2-2, the Lady Warriors lost 9-2. East Paulding was sparked by a pair of sluggers who teamed up for six hits and three RBIs. The top of the first saw the Lady Warriors take an early lead, 2-0. Sydney Brown singled to ignite the Lady Warriors offense, before Klinkert doubled, scoring Brown. The scoreboard lit up again for the Lady Warriors when Klinkert scored on an RBI single by Sydnee Wendel. But it was not enough to take down the number one team in the league.

The Lady Warriors beat Kell on Thursday 9-2 in six innings. The game was back-and-forth heading into the third, with five lead changes. But the Lady Warriors took the lead in the third inning and held on for the victory. The Lady Warriors went up for good on an RBI single by Abi Klinkert, scoring Sydney Brown. Klinkert racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Lady Warriors. Sydnee Wendel got the win for The Lady Warriors, as she allowed two runs over six innings. Wendel struck out nine, walked four and gave up only four hits. The Lady Warriors got one-run rallies in the first, second, and fourth inning. In the second, The Lady Warriors scored on a crushed RBI triple by Hailey Tollison, plating Wendel. The Lady Warriors tacked on another four runs in the fifth. A single by Klinkert ignited the offense, scoring Brown. That was followed up by Mackenzie Mathews three-run home run, scoring Bailey Brumley and Klinkert. It was an impressive all-around victory, with 12 hits offensively, and no errors on the defense.

Lady Warriors Cruise To Win Over McEachern

Last Updated: September 21, 2016 7:47 AM

The North Cobb Lady Warriors varsity squad traveled to McEachern HS on Tuesday and picked up a 9-3 victory over the Lady Indians. North Cobb jumped ahead early and scored in all but 2 innings while limiting McEachern to some late runs to make the score close.

Samantha Simcox
started and went the 7 inning distance in the circle. Simcox allowed 7 hits and struck out 11 McEachern hitters while allowing just 1 walk & 2 hit batters. After a scoreless first inning, North Cobb got it's first run in the 2nd inning. After lead off walks to
Kathryn Bywaters
&
Julie Sanderlin
, a safety squeeze by
Kennedy Kirklin
brought home courtesy runner
Kaylee Jordan
for the first run of the game. In the 3rd, North Cobb added to it's lead with some help from the Lady Indians defense. After a lead-off walk to
Iman Muhammed
and a 2-out hit by Bywaters, McEachern threw wild on the potential 3rd out plating both Muhammed & courtesy runner Jordan to stretch the lead to 3-0. North Cobb blew the game open in the 4th again with 3 2-out hits, scoring 4 runs in the inning to make it 7-0. The inning was highlighted by an inside-the-park homerun by
Jasmine Copeland
down the leftfield line. The Lady Warriors added single runs in the 5th & 7th innings on RBI singles by
Rayna Ezzell
&
Karla Abundis
. McEachern was able to get on the board in the bottom of the 5th with an unearned run. The Lady Indians added 2 more runs in the 7th to make the score 9-3 but was unable to overcome the big lead North Cobb had built. Muhammed was 2-3 with 2 runs scored, Bywaters went 2-3,
Hannah Bednarek
was 1-2, Jordan scored 3 times, Abundis & Sanderlin were both 1-2 with RBIs.

North Cobb Varsity & JV will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to region rival Kennesaw Mountain. JV will play at 4:30 with Varsity starting immediately after.

Lady Warriors Drop Double Header To Allatoona

Last Updated: September 20, 2016 8:03 AM

The North Cobb Lady Warrior teams dropped a double header Monday night at Allatoona HS as both teams battled the Lady Bucs in tight games but were not able to overcome late deficits. Allatoona was celebrating their senior night and, in a class act, recognized the North Cobb seniors as well during the ceremony that took place between games.

In the Varsity match-up, the Lady Warriors could only manage 2 runs over the 7 innings despite 9 base runners and a big homerun off the bat of
Jasmine Copeland
in the 3rd inning. In the first inning, North Cobb threatened with 2 2-out walks but was unable to convert, while Allatoona got a 2-out hit in the bottom half of the inning to go up 1-0. In the 2nd inning, North Cobb again got 2 runners on with 2 outs, including a hit by
Karla Abundis
moving
Rayna Ezzell
, who led off the inning with a walk, to 3rd base but Allatoona again got out of the jam. In the bottom half, Allatoona took control, once again with 2 outs, with 3 hits & a walk to score 3 runs to go ahead 4-0. But in the 3rd, North Cobb finally broke through to tighten the score to 4-2 with the Copeland HR, a double by
Kathryn Bywaters
, and a 2-out RBI single by
Rayna Ezzell
to RF. A walk by
Angela Cecere
gave the Lady Warriors 2 on with 2 out again but the Allatoona pitcher forced a ground ball to get out of the inning. Starting pitcher
Julie Sanderlin
held the game at 4-2 for 2 more innings allowing just a 2-out double to keep North Cobb close. The Lady Warrior bats went cold over the last 3 innings except for a 2-out triple by
Hannah Bednarek
down the 1st base line but again the runner was stranded in scoring position. Allatoona added another insurance run in the 5th to make the final score 5-2 Lady Bucs over the Lady Warriors.

In the early JV match-up, North Cobb and Allatoona had a back-and-forth scoring battle with Allatoona eventually taking the victory 9-6. The Lady Warriors opened the 1st inning with hits by
Kennedy Kirklin
&
Alexa Doherty
, both scoring later in the inning. RBIs by
Tessah McAllister
on a fielder's choice & a big double to RF by
Janiah Daniels
gave the Lady Warriors a quick 3-0 lead after 1/2 inning. Allatoona though bounced right back with 2 runs of their own with back to back 2-out hits to cut the lead to 3-2 after 1 inning. The Lady Bucs tied the game in the 2nd inning at 3, but North Cobb took the lead right back in the 3rd with a triple by McAllister scoring Doherty who reached on a hit by pitch. The lead was short lived as Allatoona responded again with a 2-run HR in the bottom of the 3rd to take a 5-4 lead. Neither team would score again until Allatoona extended it's lead to 9-4 in the 5th when with 2 outs the Lady Bucs had 6 straight batters reach base scoring 4 runs. North Cobb didn't go quietly though, as
Trinity Wilkinson
tripled to RF scoring
Kaylee Jordan
who singled with 1-out. Wilkinson later scored on a wild pitch to make it 9-6. North Cobb then loaded the bases with 2-outs before Allatoona's pitched enticed a ground out to 1st base to end the game.

North Cobb's varsity will be back in region action Tuesday at 5:30pm at McEachern. The JV & Varsity will then play on Thursday night in big region games at Kennesaw Mtn.

North Cobb Varsity Wins Over Hillgrove On Senior Night

Last Updated: September 15, 2016 10:55 PM

The North Cobb Lady Warriors jumped out to a 3-0 lead and then held off a furious Hillgrove rally to defeat the Lady Hawks 4-3 on North Cobb's Senior Night. On a night where we recognized all 10 seniors in our program, the seniors really showed up & were determined not to lose.

Our seniors recognized tonight were:
Karla Abundis
,
Cassidy Babcock
,
Hannah Bednarek
,
Iman Muhammed
,
Mikila Mullen
,
Kendra Roach
,
Julie Sanderlin
,
Samantha Simcox
, Ashton Storie, & manager Princess O.

In the region matchup game, the teams went scoreless for 2 1/2 innings, but then senior
Iman Muhammed
led off the bottom of the 3rd with a rope to LCF for a triple. She was immediately plated by senior
Mikila Mullen
who singled into RF. 2 batters later, senior
Hannah Bednarek
doubled over the Hillgrove second baseman's head driving in Mullen. Senior starting pitcher
Julie Sanderlin
kept the score at 2-0 with a 1-2-3 inning with help from senior
Cassidy Babcock
throwing out a would-be base stealer at second base. In the bottom of the 4th North Cobb extended the lead to 3-0 by taking advantage of some miscues by Hillgrove's defense.
Angela Cecere
scored on an error by the SS off Muhammed's tough grounder. Hillgrove finally scratched a run off Sanderlin in the top of the 6th to close to 3-1 but North Cobb answered back with a run in the bottom half of the inning when Babcock led off with a single into LF. Courtesy runner
Kennedy Kirklin
scored after
Kathryn Bywaters
singled into RCF and took 2nd base when her slide knocked the ball out of the SS' glove, allowing Kirklin to score on the throw. Hillgrove did not go quietly though. Back to back singles started the 7th inning. After a strikeout, another single loaded the bases for the Lady Hawks. A Warrior error and a ground-out plated 2 runs to draw Hillgrove to within 4-3 with 2 outs and the go-ahead run on 2nd base.
Jasmine Copeland
closed the game though with a bang-bang throw to get the next batter at 1st base. With that, North Cobb got their 4th region 3-7A victory and helped make senior night even better. Sanderlin went all 7 innings allowing 9 hits, 0 walks, 3 strikeouts and just 1 earned run. Muhammed was 2-3 with an RBI and run scored. Mullen was 1-3 with an RBI and run scored. Bednarek was 2-3 with an RBI. Sanderlin was 1-3 and Babcock was 2-3 at the plate.

In the early game, North Cobb's JV took on Hillgroves' JV. The game was very tight early as starter
Tessah McAllister
got out of some jams and kept the game close. After taking a 2-0 lead after 4 innings, the Lady Hawks JV opened the lead to 6-0 in the 5th on 3 straight hits that included a big HR from their clean-up hitter. North Cobb's offense just couldn't answer managing just 4 hits through 5 innings. Hillgrove took control of the game for good in the 6th bringing home 7 runs to stretch the lead to 13-0. North Cobb could not respond and Hillgrove took the early game victory. In the game, Kirklin had a single,
Kaylee Jordan
had a single,
Camdyn Smith
&
Trinity Wilkinson
both singled.

North Cobb hosts weekend #2 of the Warrior Classic. 3 games will be played on Friday night, 2 games will feature North Cobb. On Saturday we have another full slate of games and North Cobb will play in 3 of them. Check the Warrior Classic page on our website for more details.

Metro Blue Takes 2 of 3 This Weekend

Last Updated: September 14, 2016 8:01 PM

The North Cobb Metro Blue Lady Warriors took 2 out of 3 over the weekend and are currently in 3rd place in the Cobb County Metro Fastpitch Silver division.

On Saturday at Terrell Mill, Hailey Tollison went 2-3, sparking the Lady Warriors to a 9-5 victory in five innings over Walton on Saturday. Samantha Mathews got the win for the Lady Warriors. She allowed four runs over 3 1/3 innings. She struck out five, walked one and surrendered seven hits. The bottom of the first saw Walton take an early lead, 3-0, but the Lady Warriors didn't relinquish the lead after scoring five runs in the third inning when it scored on a bases loaded three-run triple by Abi Klinkert. The Lady Warriors scored two runs in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with two more in the fifth by a clutch hit by Tollison.

The Lady Warriors jumped out to an early lead on Campbell and captured a 15-4 victory at home on Sunday. Avery Vasel led the Lady Warriors offensive threat, as she got on base two times in the game. Sydnee Wendel got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She allowed four runs over two innings. She struck out three, walked two and surrendered five hits. Campbell jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of first which was answered by the Lady Warriors with six runs of their own. After two runs in the top of the second helped Campbell close its deficit to 6-4, the Lady Warriors answered with eight runs of its own in the second. The Lady Warriors tacked on another one run in the third. A clutch passed ball scored Emma Anderson to open the scoring in the frame until time ended the affair.

On Monday, the Lady Warriors hosted Harrison but fell 5-2 after playing five very tough innings. North Cobb's Samantha Mathews pitched a terrific game giving up just 3 earned runs on 13 hits, one walks & 3 strikeouts. Two Lady Warrior runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the fourth, making the score 4-2. An RBI single by Mackenzie Mathews and a passed ball sparked the Lady Warrior’s rally. North Cobb had runners in scoring position on several occasions, but couldn't get the timely hits to drive them in.

This coming weekend the Lady Warriors Blue team will be at East Paulding on Saturday at noon. Sunday they host Kell at 4:30pm. Come out and support our feeder team as they are showing a bright future for the high school program!

Lady Warriors Drop Double Header Despite Big HRs

Last Updated: September 14, 2016 7:26 AM

The North Cobb Lady Warriors dropped 2 games Tuesday night at home vs North Paulding on Strike Out Cancer night despite a power show from the Varsity & JV. Between games North Cobb & North Paulding came together to celebrate & remember those that have been lost, are battling, and have overcome cancer. It was a great ceremony and both teams were proud to participate in the event.

In the nightcap the Lady Warrior varsity team jumped out to a fast 5-0 lead in the 2nd inning highlighted by a huge 3 run HR by
Jasmine Copeland
. After going to 2 ball & 2 strike count, Copeland fouled off 4 pitches before taking the 9th pitch of the at bat over the LCF wall to put North Cobb up 5-0 and energize the park. The Lady Warriors took advantage of a couple of North Paulding errors that extended the inning to score the first two runs and bring Copeland to the plate. But North Paulding wouldn't go away quietly. The Lady Wolfpack started chipping away at the lead plating a run in the 4th inning on two triples but starter
Julie Sanderlin
got out of the inning. In the 5th, North Paulding plated 2 unearned runs to cut the lead to 5-3. Then in the 6th, North Paulding again took advantage of a lead-off error and 3 extra base hits off Sanderlin and relief pitcher
Samantha Simcox
to take the lead 7-5. North Cobb was unable to answer back and only had 1 base runner over the last 3 innings as North Paulding won the game 7-5.
Mikila Mullen
was 2-4 with an RBI & run scored and
Cassidy Babcock
was 1-3 in the game.

In the early game, North Paulding's JV jumped ahead early and eventually held a 6-1 lead over North Cobb's JV going to the bottom half of the 7th inning. But then North Cobb's bats woke up, plating 5 runs to force extra innings behind a big 3 run HR from starting pitcher
Tessah McAllister
. McAllister's HR brought the Lady Warriors to within 6-4 with no outs. Then with 1 out back to back hits from
Trinity Wilkinson
&
Kaylee Jordan
and a couple of miscues by the Lady Wolfpack tied the game at 6 still with 1 out. But with 2 on North Cobb failed to push across the winning run and the game went to ITB. In the ITB North Paulding took advantage of a couple of errors to score 2. In the bottom of the 8th, North Cobb got 1 run across after
Autaria Morgan
reached on an error & McAllister singled to left field but North Paulding retired the next 3 batters in order to close out the game 8-7.

The Lady Warriors on Thursday will host region opponent Hillgrove on Senior Night. Come out and help us recognize our 8 seniors! #GoWarriors

JV Wins At Kennesaw Mtn Tourney

Last Updated: September 12, 2016 8:20 AM

It was a very busy weekend for both our Varsity & JV Lady Warrior teams. The Varsity hosted the 1st of two weekends for the annual Warrior Classic while the JV participated in the annual Kennesaw Mtn JV Classic at Adams Park. After both teams dropped games on Friday night, the JV bounced back winning both games on Saturday to win their bracket while the varsity dropped another tough game Saturday morning.

At Adams Park, the JV team played two tough opponents on Friday night, Calhoun & Pope, falling behind early in both losses. On Saturday though, behind
Tessah McAllister
in the circle both games and key hits by
Autaria Morgan
, the JV rebounded winning both games that day vs host Kenn Mtn 8-7 and then Norcross 8-6! McAllister took home an all-tournament team award as well.

The varsity Lady Warriors hosted & took part in the 18th Annual Warrior Classic tournament on Friday & Saturday. On Friday evening, North Cobb faced Camden Co in the early game and jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 3rd inning on runs by
Angela Cecere
&
Iman Muhammed
. But Camden came back and scored 5 unearned runs in the bottom half of the 3rd to take control of the game. Camden Co never relinquished the lead, although North Cobb tried to rally in the top of the 5th loading the bases on hits by
Jasmine Copeland
&
Hannah Bednarek
but Camden only allowed 1 run to score on a fielder's choice RBI from
Carmen Stafford
. Camden Co added a run in the bottom half of the 5th to make the score 6-3 and that's where it stayed as North Cobb was unable to take advantage of having the bases loaded & no outs in the top of the 6th.

Saturday North Cobb faced off with Pope in the early morning game with Pope edging the Lady Warriors 3-0. North Cobb's
Samantha Simcox
pitched a terrific game giving up just 3 runs on 7 hits, no walks & 3 strikeouts. Unfortunately the Lady Warrior offense could only muster 3 hits off Pope and couldn't push across any runs. North Cobb had runners in scoring position on 3 different occasions but couldn't get the timely hits to drive them in, unlike Pope who was able to manufacture all 3 of their runs.
Mikila Mullen
, Muhammed, & Stafford contributed the hits in the game.

This week the Lady Warriors varsity & JV will host region match-ups with North Paulding on Tuesday and Hillgrove on Thursday. Then this upcoming weekend, North Cobb hosts the 2nd weekend of the Warrior Classic. The Lady Warriors will play 5 games over the 2 days so come out and support the team!

The Varsity Lady Warriors fell behind early thanks to some miscues on defense and could never recover in the nightcap game, losing 7-0. After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Mustangs plated 3 unearned runs all with 2 outs in the 2nd inning. In the bottom half of the 2nd inning, the Lady Warriors tried to answer back with back-to-back singles by
Mikila Mullen
&
Hannah Bednarek
but the Lady Mustangs shut down the rally on a hard hit grounder to 2nd base by
Rayna Ezzell
that they turned into a 4-6-3 double play. In the 4th inning, Kennesaw Mtn added 3 more runs, only 1 was earned, to expand their lead to 6-0. North Cobb tried again to rally in the bottom half of the inning with lead-off hits by
Angela Cecere
&
Jasmine Copeland
but again came away with no runs as the Lady Mustang pitcher got 3 consective infield pop-ups to get out of the jam. Kennesaw Mountain added 1 more unearned run in the 6th to make it 7-0 but again North Cobb kept fighting in the bottom of the 6th putting 2 more runners on with 1 out but again couldn't find a way to drive in the runs. North Cobb went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 7th to end the game with a 7-0 loss. Pitchers
Julie Sanderlin
, who started the game and went 5 innings giving up just 1 earned run on 7 hits and just 2 walks, &
Samantha Simcox
, who came in in relief for 2 innings giving up 1 unearned run on 3 hits, no walks, and 1 strikeout, kept the Lady Warriors in the game all night, battling the tough Kennesaw Mtn lineup.

In the early game matching the Junior Varsity squads, the Lady Warriors pulled away from an early back and forth scoring affair to take control and cruise to a 10-5 victory. Kennesaw Mtn jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning but starting pitcher
Tessah McAllister
held them there and then in the bottom of the 1st inning the Lady Warriors responded with 2 runs of their own. The Lady Mustangs answered right back with 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning to take a 4-2 lead but again the Lady Warriors responded. After back-to-back walks leading off the inning to
Averi Childress
&
Trinity Wilkinson
, the top of the batting order made the Lady Mustangs pay.
Kennedy Kirklin
, who went 3-3 with 2 runs scored 4 stolen bases & 2 RBIs,
Alexa Doherty
, &
Autaria Morgan
all providing hits in the inning driving in the runs for the lead. The Lady Warriors never relinquished that lead and added 2 in the 3rd & 2 more in the 4th for a 10-4 lead that held up. Kennesaw Mountain added 1 run in the 5th but couldn't overcome the big deficit as McAllister and the defense shut the door on them. In addition to Kirklin's big night, Morgan went 2-2 with a walk, and 2 RBI.
Camdyn Smith
was 2-3 with an RBI double and a run scored.
Kaylee Jordan
also went 2-3, scoring 1 and driving in 2 RBI. McAllister went the distance with 6 innings pitched, giving up just 2 earned runs on 9 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts.

The Lady Warriors will be off until next Thursday Sept 8th as both JV and Varsity will travel to region foe Marietta. Both squads them will play on the weekend of Sept 9th & 10th in tournaments. Varsity will be hosting the first wekeend of the annual Warrior Classic, while the JV will be at Adams Park for annual Kennesaw Mtn JV tournament. Lady Warrior Metro Blue With 2 Big Wins

Last Updated: August 31, 2016 8:31 AM

The North Cobb Metro Blue Lady Warriors are now 3-1 after a couple of key wins on the road as they took down a perennial power Pope on Sunday, and took down a tough Allatoona squad on Monday in an extra inning game.

On Sunday, North Cobb took the last of five lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against Pope, securing a 3-2 victory. They scored on an RBI single by Mackenzie Mathews, plating Bailey Brumley. But it was the defense on this day that won it. Behind stellar defense & Samantha Mathews on the mound, Pope had no answer for the Lady Warriors. Sam pitched a complete six inning game, allowing only one earned run off of three hits, three strikeouts, and just two walks. Sam took advantage of a great defense behind her, and there were some stellar performances out on the field. It was a complete team win on defense.

On Monday, North Cobb followed up the Pope win by outlasted Allatoona in a high-scoring extra inning affair. Emotions were high and the bats were busy, but when the dust cleared, North Cobb had a 13-10 win over Allatoona in five innings. The teams totaled 26 hits in the game and traded runs for most of the contest. North Cobb finally managed to grab the lead after a strong ITB fifth inning. A wild pitch scored Sydnee Wendel to give North Cobb the lead for good. Sydney Brown boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace North Cobb, with two RBIs and a stolen base. Wendel got the win for North Cobb, with two strikeouts, four walks, and 10 hits.

North Cobb will be back in action with three back to back games starting on Saturday, September 10th at Walton, home on Sunday vs. Campbell, and then home on Monday vs Harrison.

Lady Warriors Drop 2 Extra Innings Games

Last Updated: August 25, 2016 11:32 AM

The North Cobb Lady Warriors lost two extra inning affairs last night at North Paulding HS. The Varsity rallied from a 5 run deficit to tie the game in the 7th to send it to ITB before losing 6-5 while the JV took a late 1-0 lead only to fall 2-1 also in ITB.

In the Varsity match-up, North Paulding pulled ahead with single runs in the 1st, 3rd, & 5th innings and then scored two more in the 6th to take a 5-0 lead heading into the 7th inning. North Cobb could only muster 1 hit over the first 6 innings before the bats woke up and the Lady Warriors put up 5 runs to tie the game in the top of the 7th. The inning started with back to back singles from
Hannah Bednarek
and Katherine Bywaters. Then the first of two costly errors by North Paulding and an RBI ground-out by
Julie Sanderlin
helped the Lady Warriors pull to within 5-2 with 2 outs.
Iman Muhammed
lined sharply into right field to drive in pinch runner Kennedy Kirklin to make it 5-3.
Angela Cecere
put down a terrific drag bunt single that the North Paulding catcher threw into the right field corner scoring both Muhammed & Cecere!
Samantha Simcox
, pitching in relief, shut the door on North Paulding in the 7th to force extra innings. Unfortunately North Cobb was unable to push across
Jasmine Copeland
, who started the inning at 2nd base, leaving the game tied going to the bottom of the 8th inning. North Paulding loaded the bases eventually and a sharp line drive single into centerfield brought home the winning run. Sanderlin, who started the game in the circle, got a no-decision going 5 1/3 walking none and striking out 2. Simcox took the loss giving up 3 hits in 2+ innings of relief.

The match-up of the JV teams earlier in the afternoon was a defensive battle with North Cobb taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the 7th on a single to right field by
Rayna Ezzell
, that broke up the North Paulding no-hitter. Then with 2 outs
Autaria Morgan
hit the left centerfield fence with a triple to drive in Ezzell for the first run of the game. Going to the bottom of the 7th,
Tessah McAllister
who pitched a brilliant game, got 2 quick outs before North Paulding strung together 3 straight hits to tie the game at 1 and send it to ITB. North Cobb failed to get Trinity Wilkinson, starting the top of the 8th inning running at 2nd base, while North Paulding's cleanup hitter ripped a double to left centerfield to drive home the winning run. McAllister took the loss but pitched well enough to win giving up 10 hits and striking out 2 while walking just 1.

Both Lady Warriors teams will be back in action on Thursday as North Cobb travels to region 3-AAAAAAA foe Hillgrove. The JV will play at 4:30pm with the Varsity following at 5:55pm. #GoWarriors

>> View Pics From JV Game <<

In the Varsity non-region match-up,
Iman Muhammad
went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Lady Warriors. She walked in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, 5th, & 7th innings and scored 3 of the Lady Warrior's 5 runs.

South Paulding jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st. A double by Kiera Cooper, scoring Jaime Beaty, started the inning off. South Paulding took the lead for good in the 4th inning, scoring six runs on a two-run double by Cooper, an error, and an RBI single by Hardy. This put South Paulding up 7-1 after 3 1/2 innings.

North Cobb wouldn't go quietly though as the Warriors scored 2 runs in the 4th on a single by Julie Sanderlin, an RBI triple by
Hannah Bednarek
, & an RBI by
Kendra Roach
. In the 5th, North Cobb cut the deficit to three on an RBI single by Mikila Mullen. North Cobb plated 1 more run in the bottom of the 7th on an RBI single by
Jasmine Copeland
, who went 2-4 with 2 RBI, and loaded the bases before South Paulding was able to stop the rally and secure the 7-5 victory over North Cobb.

The North Cobb JV earned their first victory of the season last night with a resounding 11-7 win over South Paulding. The JV used very hot bats to explode out to an 11-2 lead early in the match-up. South Paulding didn't go quietly as they chipped away at the lead to get to within 11-7 but
Tessah McAllister
, who pitched a complete game, shut down the rally on the mound & solid late game defense, sparked by an over-the-shoulder catch in CF by Alexa Doherty, allowed North Cobb to hold on and win!
Rayna Ezzell
& Kennedy Kirklin both contributed 2 hits while
Janiah Daniels
had a huge 3 RBI triple.

Both Lady Warrior teams will be back in action on Thursday vs Marietta. JV plays at 5pm with the Varsity following around 6:30pm in the first region game of the season.

Season Kicks Off With A Bang!

Last Updated: August 05, 2016 1:34 PM

The North Cobb Fastpitch Lady Warriors kicked off the 2016-2017 season last night with a strong outing vs Campbell in a scrimmage game. In front of a great crowd, the Lady Warriors used all facets of the game, offense/pitching/defense/base-running, to pull away from an early 2-2 tie to win 16-5. The defense was solid behind 3 different pitchers over the 6+ innings. The team thanks all the fans, including the JV & metro teams, for coming out and supporting them.

Next up for the Lady Warriors program is the Allatoona Red/Black JV Tournament on Friday & Saturday Aug 12th & 13th.
